About Vickie Whitehead Jenkins:
Vickie Whitehead Jenkins had a lifelong interest in science, including animals, the natural world, and computer science. After graduating from Hampton High School in 1979, Vickie was a pioneer in computer technology when the field was still majority-male dominated. She received her bachelors degree from East Tennessee State University in 1981 and achieved a long career in technology and medical software. Along the way she also raised two daughters as a single parent, and encouraged them both to follow their dreams as far as they would take them.As her daughters, we want to invest in the future of one girl per year out of the Hampton High School graduating class, who plans to pursue a STEM related field in her college career. Our mother gave us the chance to change our lives forever by pursuing higher education, and we want to do what we can to help girls from her high-school alma mater do the same thing.
